Benefits of Cincinnati Reds Baseball Cards
The Cincinnati Reds are a Major League Baseball team based in Cincinnati, Ohio. They are members of the Central Division of the National League. The Reds play their home games at Great American Ball Park, which opened in 2003.
The franchise was founded in 1882 as the Cincinnati Red Stockings, one of the eight charter members of the American Association (AA). The AA folded after only two seasons, and the Reds joined Major League Baseball (MLB) in 1890 as a member club of what is now known as the National League West division—then known simply as “the West”. They were eliminated from contention for that year’s World Series by finishing third behind both Brooklyn and St. Louis Cardinals clubs; however they did win MLB’s first ever postseason game that same year when they defeated Brooklyn 6-5 at Riverfront Stadium on October 1.
During subsequent decades much success eluded them until 1936 When Sparky Anderson led them to winning 96 regular season games and their first ever World Series title defeating Detroit Tigers 4–3 en route to being named Manager of the Year—a position he would hold with Cincinnati for 26 seasons through 1978. Anderson would be succeeded by Lou Piniella who enjoyed several successful seasons during his own managerial tenure which lasted 10 years from 1979–1988 culminating with another championship victory over Oakland Athletics four games to none sweep en route to again being named Manager Of The Year following 108 regular season victories that included setting then-franchise records for most wins at home 42 while also going an NL best 40–19 on road trips also leading NL teams
